Biography:
Sage Sohier has been photographing people in their environments since she graduated from Harvard University in 1976. She has been awarded many grants for her work, including a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, and a National Endowment for the Arts Photography Fellowship. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, among others. She has taught photography at a number of schools in the Boston area, most recently for 12 years at Harvard University. 2004 exhibitions include a group of photographs in "Self-Evidence: Identity in Contemporary Art," at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Mass., and a solo show at Bernard Toale Gallery in Boston.
